Dear Mr. Eno, I heard you when you were on the radio here in Louisiana August 10. I bought Footsteps in the Attic right away and finished reading it before Katrina struck and did such horrible damage to our state and to my family. Not only did your book change my life, it may have saved my life. I was used to books that said the same ol' same ol' about ghosts and life after death. Good old entertainment that amounts to little or nothing in the end. I was not only floored by the amazing cases you have participated in, but I was stunned by the vision you present about unending life, unending love and undying unity. You have made God so much bigger for me! Had I not had that vision in my mind when I got news that my dear aunt and uncle from New Orleans, who brought me up, were killed in Katrina, I say honestly that I probably would have taken my own life. They were everything to me! But thanks to you I now know they they are not dead and that we are together in many ways and many places right now and will be forever! I feel them in a more real way than I ever did before! Thank you and God bless you! Kelly C. Baton Rouge, La. 8/19/2005
Dear Mr Eno,
I just wanted to drop you a note to let you how much I enjoyed Faces in the Window and Footsteps in the Attic that I read earlier this year. These books were my first introduction to the paranormal and have sparked a great interest for me especially in the area of scientific explanations, i.e. time displacements. Also, from your website and your mention of him in your book, I have discovered Shane Sirois' Trueghost site where several of us are active on a message board. After being around a little while I sense how unique both you and Shane are in this field in your approach and your theories. Please keep up the good work! I look forward to more published material from you and hopefully Shane will complete his book that he keeps hinting on. Also, that is really neat that your son is starting to help investigating cases--a father-son team! Sincerely, Phil P. Sacramento, Calif. 8/16/05 HELP WITH VERMONT PARASITE
It was wonderful visiting with you and your son! I've
already read your first book and Roland is almost through the second
one. Fascinating!!! Everything you told us made sense and you were a
tremendous help.
The picture is
something else! Whoa! I don't believe in luck, but we both feel so fortunate that you were available to help us. We've hesitated pursuing this investigation for years partly because we didn't want to turn this experience into some sort of circus and it is important to us that we keep it in a faith based perspective. You are exactly the person we needed! We feel so fortunate that you made the time to come all that way to see us. We talked to our son and he was very sorry
to have missed you and definitely will be emailing you. He actually saw
a figure walking by his bedroom door again last night while he was
watching TV in bed. GHOSTS, THE UNIVERSE AND 'KNOWINGS'
Hello,
I am just an average person with some pretty interesting views on life and our universe. I'm a 14yr Navy veteran, mother of a 4yr old and now currently a student.... Well, I am doing research for a project for psych., and I stumble upon your site...........well. Since I was a child have had some (what my mother and I call) "knowings". One of them was my theory on ghosts and our universe. I too do NOT believe in death and have been fascinated with the paranormal or, what we think we do not understand about our world, to an extent. I really keep a lot of my views to myself, so when I saw what your theory was my jaw hit the floor and I was compelled to write to you.... When I get one of my "knowings" it just hits me......theories etc....well it came to me that these are not hauntings per se.........that there is a "wrinkle" or a thin membrane between universes in places like this....hence the sightings........and the strange phenomena of seemingly being in one place and all of the sudden your surroundings change to one of the past in the blink of an eye. I just wanted to share with you something that you, I am sure already know and I you ever want to discuss "knowings" for there are much more. Thanks for taking the time to read my babblings. Ginger in Florida PAUL's RESPONSE Hi, Ginger, and thanks for writing. Your "membrane" idea sure makes sense to me. Paul QUESTIONING PAUL's CREDIBILITY DEAR MR.GHOSTHUNTER!, I HAVE COME TO CONCLUSION THAT IN PICTURE 3 ON YOUR HOMEPAGE, UMM IT IS JUST A LAMP SHADE. PLEASE STOP THIS MADNESS AND TRICKERY! I MEAN, COME ON NOW, YOU ARE TRYING TO MESS WITH MY HEAD. THAT WAS LUDACRIOUS. WELL, I MEAN, THAT WAS SO CHEESY THAT YOU ARE TRYING TO TELL PEOPLE THAT A LAMP SHADE IS A GHOSTS FACE IN THE WINDOW. MAY I SAY CHEAP? WELL, I HAVE TO GO NOW, IF YOU DECIDE TO GET BACK TO ME WITH SOME REAL GHOSTS, BECAUSE I AM QUITE DISAPPOINTED.... SINCERELY, GHOST WRITER
Dear
Ghost:
Congratulations!
In 30 years of paranormal research and 25 years of professional
journalism, you are the first person ever to accuse me of dishonesty. As
a matter of fact, I have been told that I could be famous and have a
much fatter wallet if only I would "doctor" or
"enhance" a few photos. I have never and will never do it.
If
you read through the www.NewEnglandGhosts.com website (especially my
answers to letters from "true believers"), which I somehow
think you didn't, you would see that my entire philosophy is based on an
open-minded skepticism. I am a fellow of the American Society for
Psychical Research and for many years belonged to the Committee for the
Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal, publishers of
"Skeptical Inquirer" magazine. I assure you that my reputation
for being honest is my greatest asset.
Unless
otherwise specified, all photos on the site are checked by photographic
experts and computer-analyzed. I even return by day to sites of night
photos to be sure that some common object didn't appear to be something
it isn't. This can't, of course, guarantee that something in a photo is
paranormal, but it can pretty well identify what is not. All possible
care is taken to assure that photos on the site actually are anomalous.
Mistakes can occur, of course, despite the best care, but I deeply
resent the implication that there is deliberate dishonesty. Believe me,
sir, I have much better things to do. Paul F. Eno GHOST HUNTING: WHAT HAPPENED TO ME
Dear
Paul:
I
wanted to write you a letter about the dangers of inexperienced ghost
hunting. This is a first-hand account of what happened to me.
At
a young age I was obsessed with horror movies, horror books, and the
paranormal. And knowing I had an overactive imagination, and serious
night terrors, nothing stopped me.
Now,
at the age of 38, I found myself taking it one step further.
I
replied with a big "yes." About five hours later I found
myself in this home where poltergeist activity was reported. As this was
all new to me, I was in awe. What I had experienced was incredible,
streaks of ectoplasm before my eyes, feeling energy around me, and
letting whatever energy pass into my body.
After
that I went out and purchased a new digital camcorder in hopes of
catching a ghost. I was thinking of it morning, noon, and night. The
next couple of weeks I had gone on several investigations, and enjoying
it all the way -- until one night while I was sleeping, I woke up to
banging in my house, as I lay there I felt this awful tingling sensation
about my body, starting from my midsection and up to my face.
Then
it passed inside to my heart and my heart raced twice its speed. I
thought I was going to have a heart attack. I woke my wife and explained
to her what had happened. She replied with, "It's just a
dream."
After
a few minutes it went away, and I fell back to sleep. The next night the
same thing happened, but much worse. I started seeing flashes of light
out of the corner of my eye as I lay in bed. I tried to sleep but I kept
thinking about it, and soon it was paralyzing me, I couldn't move, I was
cold and felt a tingling sensation from my feet to my head. This went on
for a week, I would try to forget about it but it would only get worse.
I
went about my day, and it would follow me everywhere I went.
You
visited me and my wife and discovered what was actually taking place.
What you told me made sense. What I had thought was a ghost was my
imagination, feeding my fears, and my mind was creating things that were
not there. I believe the term was "demonopathic hysteria."
After your visit with me, I soon realized that it was my own mind
creating this illusion.
I
am writing this letter in hopes that it may help someone. Even if it
helps one person, then I will be happy, as I don't want anyone to go
through what I had gone through. Before all this happened, I considered
myself as a well grounded person and quite sane.
Just
to show you that it can happen to anyone. "Better Now" in Massachusetts
